Why the next ERP has no licence fee, and where the value moves instead

For thirty years, enterprise software has been sold on a per-user, per-month licence. The bigger the company, the higher the bill - not because the software does more, but because more people sign in. Kinnow takes a different position: the core ERP carries no licence fee. No per-user fee. No per-user charge for any application.

This is not a free-trial trick with the useful features kept behind a paywall. Every one of Kinnow's 49 applications is available to every user in the company. No licence fee for the software, any application or any user. No per-user fee. What a business pays for is Kinnow Cloud, a flat fee set by its size that covers hosting, backups, security and updates, and the work the AI agents do: reading documents, reconciling entries, drafting quotations, scoring leads, flagging risks. That agent work comes as an agent pack whose credits refresh every month, with up to 20% of unused credits carried into the next month and top-ups that last 12 months.

Why the old model is breaking

The per-user licence made sense when software was scarce and expensive to build. It does not make sense when the cost of delivering another seat is near zero and the real value is in the intelligence the system produces. A company with 200 employees should not pay ten times what a company with 20 employees pays for the same ledger and the same invoicing steps. The work those employees do may differ in volume, but the software itself is the same.

The licence model also pushes businesses the wrong way. Businesses restrict who gets access to keep costs down, which means the people who need the data most - field teams, warehouse staff, project managers on site - are often locked out. When there is no per-user fee, everyone gets a seat. The business benefits because more activity flows through the system, more data is captured, and the agents have more to work from.

Where the value moves

The value moves to the thinking the software does for you. An agent that reads a purchase order and a goods-receipt note and drafts the accrual entry is doing work that would otherwise take a person fifteen minutes. An agent that reads the bank feed and reconciles sixty transactions overnight is doing work that would otherwise take an accountant half a day. That work is what Kinnow is for.

The work is visible. A business can see which agents ran, on which records, and what they produced. If an agent's output is not useful, the business turns it off. There is no head count to settle up at year-end and no unused licences, and nothing stops working if credits run low: the ERP carries on and the business tops up when it chooses. Kinnow earns its keep every month by doing work people can see.

What this means for partners

For a CA practice or an implementation partner, having no licence fee changes the conversation. There is no licence cost to justify before the client sees value. The partner sets up the system, trains the team and stays close to the client as they use it more deeply.

The bet

Kinnow is betting that if the platform is genuinely useful, businesses will use it deeply. It is a bet on usefulness over access, and on results over the number of seats. For a growing business in India or the Middle East that has been priced out of the established ERPs, it changes what is possible.

Frequently asked questions

Is there really no licence fee?

Correct. No licence fee and no per-user fee, for any of the 49 applications. You pay Kinnow Cloud, a flat fee by business size, and an agent pack for the work the agents do. One fixed price, in writing.

Can we use Kinnow without any agents?

Yes. The ERP works as a full set of business records without agents. You can switch agents on and off per application.

Tell Kinnow what slows you down.

Tell us in a sentence. Kinnow drafts a starting plan and a person follows up.
